Week of December 9th – 13th:
Monday: During our morning meeting, we passed the sphere shape around the circle, said its name and good morning to our neighbor. We filled in the missing letters from our morning message. During phonics, we reviewed the letters of the day, “Ii and Jj”. We played an alphabet game with the beginning letter sounds. During science, we took a quiz on noticing the trends on a graph as either going up, going down or staying the same. We reread Laxmi’s Mooch and discussed the lessons that Laxmi learned throughout the story. We drew a picture of Laxmi to show one of the things we learned about her. During math, we used connecting cubes and a partner to help solve addition story problems. We chose our next purposeful play spots.
Tuesday: During our morning meeting, we did our sphere shape greeting. We played “Guess My Rule” with our snap word cards. During Library time, we listened to the story, The Gingerbread Man. Then we made a gingerbread house with magnetic shape tiles. During phonics, we reviewed the letters of the day, “Rr and Nn”. We played an alphabet game with beginning letter sounds and our ABC charts. Ms. Amato did a Social Emotional Lesson with our class. She discussed different feelings and facial expressions associated with those feelings. We listened to the story, The Gingerbread Boy. We made predictions and compared it to The Gingerbread Man story. During math, we worked in stations to play with 3d shapes, practice forming numbers 1-8, make a penguin out of 2d shapes and put numbers together to see how many marshmallows go in our hot cocoa cups. We chose our next purposeful play spots.
Wednesday: During our morning meeting, we did our sphere shape greeting. We labeled two picture cards together, “pen and pin”. During phonics, we reviewed the letter sound of the day, “Mm”. We played “ABC school” with our reading buddy and a stuffed animal. During reader’s workshop, we learned to look for snap words to help us read our pattern books. We read the decodable texts, I Can and Look! We listened to the story of The Gingerbread Girl and we compared it to the Gingerbread Boy. During math, we practiced putting objects together to count how many in all. We worked in our math stations. During positivity time, we discussed how to help others. We chose our next purposeful play spots.
Thursday: During our morning meeting, we did our cone shape greeting. During phonics, we reviewed the letter sound of the day, “Pp”. We introduced two new snap words, “here” and “is”. We read the story of The Gingerbread Baby and compared it to The Gingerbread Girl. During math, we practiced completing addition stories with counters. We worked in our math stations. We used the iPads during computer time to do activities on the Starfall App. We chose our new purposeful play spots.
Friday: During our morning meeting, we did our cone shape greeting. We practiced our alphabet cards. We played “I Spy a Snap Word”. During phonics, we reviewed the letter sound of the day “Uu”. We took a quiz on a few of our letter sounds. We listened to the story of The Gingerbread Cowboy and compared it to other gingerbread stories. During writing, we chose a classroom object, drew the different parts and then labeled all the parts. During math, we worked in our last round of stations. During positivity time, we continued our discussion on helping others by listening to the Elephant and Piggie story, My Friend is Sad. We chose our next purposeful play spots.
