The Sheafe Road School Community believes in the importance of Good Character. Our Character Education initiative is based on the SixPillars of Character which were developed by Character Counts!
CHARACTER COUNTS! was established to promote and teach the SixPillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship, by The Josephson Institute of Ethics — a nonprofit and nonpartisan teaching organization based in Los Angeles, California. It is today the most widely implemented approach to character education, reaching millions of youth through thousands of affiliated schools, agencies and organizations.
Sheafe's program consists of several opportunities to discuss the Pillars of Character with our students; each month has been assigned one of the SixPillars and the staff facilitates lessons aligned with the Pillar of the Month. In addition to the classroom lessons, we start each day with the quote of the week that reminds our students about the importance of Good Character.
We encourage you to discuss each of the SixPillars with your children - the more they hear about good character the more important it will be!
