• 1.  I called the Attendance office to report my child absent or request early dismissal.  Do I need to send in an absent note?
     
    Yes.  We need written documentation of absences, with student name and ID number and reason for being absent.  If it is for a medical appointment please provide documentation.  Here is a template you can use for a written note. 
     
    2.  What is the procedure for early dismissal?

    The student will come to the attendance office in room in room 152.  They will fill out our early dismissal log and get a pass to meet parent at the designated time. You may also fax a note to 845-897-8693 or email a note to johnjay.attendance@wcsdny.org .  Please include student's name, student ID and your contact information in that communication, this will enable us easy communication in the event that we need to be in touch with you.  
     
     
    3.  If a student is tardy to school...do they need an excuse note?
     
    If a student has an excused tardy please use our template or provide documentation of their medical appointment or other reason for their tardy.  Students that are not excused will be noted as Unexcused Tardy in our system.  
     
    4.  Where do I order homework requests when my child is out?
     
    Please contact your student's school counselor in the guidance department.  Since we are now a 1to 1 district we also encourage students to email their teacher or check Google Classroom.  .
     
    5.  My child was marked absent BUT was present in class?
     
    Have your child speak to the teacher to change their record of attendance by class.
