    About The Nurse:     The 2024-2025 school year is my 24th year as Gayhead's school nurse. I look forward to getting to know many parents as well as I know who your children are.     Goals of the School Health Services Program: "School Nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students. To that end, school nurses facilitate positive student responses to normal development; promote health and safety; intervene with actual and potential health problems; provide case management services; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning." National Association of School Nurses, 2010."
     
    The School Nurse has a crucial role in the seamless provision of comprehensive health services to children and youth. The role of the School Nurse is serving as a team member in providing preventive services, early identification of problems, interventions, and referrals to foster health and educational success."American Academy of Pediatrics Council on School Health, 2008."
