Summer is a great time to further explore your interests while having fun in the process. Some opportunities include helping a professor in their research, taking on an internship, going to a camp in your area of interest, going to a college of your interest for a pre-college program, exploring the arts in an arts program and so many other opportunities. For those interested in researching with a professor, you can look up professors at local colleges such as Vassar College and see what research interests you. Email them to ask if you might be able to help in their lab. 

Otherwise, you can apply to many summer research programs targeted at high school students.
