A new storm is coming!  Ketcham Wrestling had a major dual meet tournament on Saturday at Nyack High School.  For the second straight year Ketcham went undefeated at this tournament going 6-0 and took home the 1st place trophy. We faced some really good and talented wrestling teams, however our determination and perseverance helped us secure back to back championships. Izaiah Velez, Lucas Glickman, Angelo Battista and CJ Malone went undefeated on the day as well. Angelo was awarded "Most Outstanding Junior" having 3 pinfalls and 3 tech falls throughout the tournament. This makes Ketcham 7-0 in season duals. Ketcham will look to continue this incredible season in Sleepy Hollow on Monday night.

One other INCREDIBLE highlight for this weekend, Ms. Gwen Browne of RCK entered her first ever female freestyle wrestling tournament at Minisink Valley High School, known as the "Iron Maiden" Tournament.  Gwen COMPLETELY DOMINATED her competition, winning all 4 of her matches in her bracket and earned her rightful place on the podium, placing 1st. This is Gwen's second tournament championship of the season and will be continuing her dominant wrestling throughout the season. She is truly an "Iron Maiden."

The varsity wrestling team took a long journey to Uniondale HS on Long Island for our first tournament of the season.

We had 8 out 11 wrestlers place including our first female wrestler EVER, Gwen Browne, who placed 1st in the girls freestyle bracket with total domination. Lucas Glickman whose season ended short last year with an injury, bounced back strongly taking 1st place in the 108lb weight class.  Angelo Battista placed 4th in the 116 weight class division, Jesse Decarlo placed 1st in the 131B divisoin, Brian Cservak Jr. took 1st place with dominating the 145lb weight class. Patrick Modugno placed 2nd in the 152B  weight class division, Jeremiah Schneck placed 2nd in the 160B weight class division and Emil Corporan placed 3rd in the 190lb weight class facing some of the toughest opponents in the state.

Ketcham finished 5th overall in total team points and is looking to continue to dominate this Thursday taking on a great Clarkstown North wrestling team.

Thank you for all of your support and let's keep this storm rolling!

Congratulations to Abby Kowalczyk for finishing 14th out of 282 runners at the Federation/Nike Regional Cross Country Championships at Bowdoin Park. Abby toed the starting line for the final time as a high school athlete and led the way for all Section 1 runners in a courageous effort to make Nationals. Although she fell a little short of that goal, it was an overall outstanding effort.

Good job by Isaac Menjivar, Matt Kowalczyk, Nick Soto and Joshua Jimenez who all ran in the open division.

Also, a big thank you to all the volunteers who helped to park well over a thousand vehicles for the day. It was a huge undertaking met with many accolades from the Nike staff.

A successful season is often marked by a win in your final game or contest. In cross-country, success can be defined by how much you improved from the first race of the season to the last. On Saturday, the boys and girls made that affirmation by performing at their best. The boys’ team was led to a fifth-place finish by Isaac Menjivar and Matt Kowalczyk. They both just missed qualifying for the State Meet by only a few places. They were followed by George Soyka, Adam Gazal and Jack McCarthy, who all set personal bests on the famed course at Bowdoin Park. On the girls' side, Abby Kowalczyk finished second overall in a close battle for the top spot and broke 19:00 for the first time at Bowdoin. She will represent the RCK Storm for the third time in a row at the State Meet next Saturday in Queensbury. Wish her luck! Congratulations to all athletes on a very successful season!

That time is an RCK Storm all-time best as well! Elizabeth DelRosso had an impressive personal best to finish in 10th overall.

For the boys, the character of a team is often defined by those who step up when others are absent. Such was the case today as Derek Munoz and Nick Soto had critical finishes to help secure 3rd place overall for the team. They were led by Matt Kowalczyk, Isaac Menjivar, and George Soyka, each of whom medaled.

The individual performances were beyond expectations for all of the athletes. They all set new personal bests! Great job!

RCK Football and WJHS Football joined the WCSD community to celebrate the life of Jac Antonio Cortes, a football player who would have been an 8th grader at WJHS this year. His family and friends were joined by Jonathan Casillas and David Tyree, former NY Giants players and Super Bowl champions, to celebrate Jac’s love of football and the Giants. His family was presented with a team jersey, and watched RCK and WJHS play the game Jac loved, alongside Casillas and Tyree.
