    New York State Physical Education Standards

    Standard 1

    Personal Health and Fitness

    Students will have the necessary knowledge and skills to establish and maintain physical fitness, participate in physical activity, and maintain personal health.

     

    Standard 2

    A Safe and Healthy Environment

    Students will acquire the knowledge and ability necessary to create and maintain a safe and healthy environment.

     

    Standard 3
     

    Resource Management

    Students will understand and be able to manage their personal and community resources.

     

    High quality physical education provides students with a planned, sequential, K-8 program designed to develop motor skills, knowledge and behaviors for active living, physical fitness, sportspersonship, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence. Regardless of the mode (face-to-face, hybrid or online), the goal of physical education is to develop physically literate individuals who have the knowledge, skills and confidence to enjoy a lifetime of healthful physical activity.
