    Congratulations to Aarysa Moore and Abby Kowalczyk for qualifying for the New York State Track and Field Championships next week. During Aarysa finished second in the 100m high hurdles and broke her own school record. Aarysa also finished second in the high jump. Abby won the 3,000 meter run with a decisive margin of victory of nearly 40 seconds. And although Amanda Arvelo did not qualify for the State Meet, she placed 4th in the long jump, and eclipsed a 30 year old school record in the process.

    National Art Honor Society 

     

     


     
    Congratulations to the girls Track and Field team for placing second in the Race at the Oval Office Invitational track meet at FDR on Saturday. Event winners include Abby Kowalczyk in both the 800 and 1500 meter runs, Aarysa Moore in the 100 meter high hurdles (new school record) and Angie Odeniyi in the discus throw. Jianna Brown placed second in the pole vault as did the 4x100 meter relay team (Amanda Arvelo, Sabrina Schmitt, Aarysa Moore and Savana Stevenson). Aarysa also grabbed a silver in the high jump. Hailey Hrouda placed third in the discus throw with a personal best. 
    For the boys, Connor Hitt won the 800 meter run with a new school and meet record. Other individual scorers include Billy Dickson who placed second in the pole vault and Eddy Corporan who got third in the 110 meter high hurdles. The boys 4x100 meter relay (Brandon Castorina, Aiden Pagan, Ty Wagner and John Hartmann also finished in third. 
    Great job by all athletes! There were many personal bests! Keep up the good work!

     
     
     

     
     
    Congratulations to FBLA members Nathaniel Hom, Srabon Hoq and Derek Marr who finished 3rd in the state in Computer Game Simulation.
     
    Derek Marr finished 3rd in the state for Introduction to Information Technology and Nathaniel Hom finished 4th in the same event.

    Congratulations to Quinn Curtis, who competed in the Skills USA state competition in Syracuse. Quinn did an exceptional job creating a rose out of sheet metal. He presented his technique in front of a panel of judges and competed against welding students from all over NYS. Skills USA is a leadership organization which hosts regional / statewide competitions for CTE students. Way to go Quinn!

    Congratulations to Sam Aldarondo ('23) and Isabella Williams ('23) for representing RCK and WCSD at the 2023 National Association for Music Education All Eastern Conference in Rochester! 

     


    Congratulations to Sabrina Vilato ('23) for earning the Girl Scout Gold Award. Her project was called Level the Playing Field and Sabrina worked to promote female athletes at RCK and in WCSD. She created the Wappingers CSD Sports Hall of Fame website, installed a bulletin board in the locker room highlighting our RCK athletes and worked with the school and district administration to increase publicity for our female athletes. The Gold Award is the highest award in Girl Scouts and only 6% of girls achieve it annually. Way to go Sabrina!


    Congratulations to the 51 students inducted on March 30, 2023 into the Ellen Ochoa Chapter of Sociedad Hispanica Honoraria.

    RCK Société Honoraire de Francais presented Café des Artistes on March 17th. Senior Abigail led the event, which included step-by-step instructions on painting a beautiful field of lavender.

    RCK Interact did a wonderful job representing their club and our school in the Annual Dutchess St. Patrick's Day Parade.


    The RCK Math Team was one of 21 schools to compete in the Dutchess-Ulster-Sullivan-Orange (DUSO) Math League in March. 
    Teams of 5 members answer 6 questions per meet over 5 meets from Oct - February.
    Of the 50-60 teams, the top 21 scoring teams are invited to the Sectionals at Vassar College.
    The RCK Team tied for 3rd Place. Congratulations to team members: Robert Primrose, Collin McElroy, Emily Zhang, Jonathan Lichwick, and Matthew Lechocinski.

    The individual student results from the 5 earlier meets are tallied (over 340 students participated in at least one meet this year) and the top 32 from all 21 schools in DUSO are invited to go to the State Competition in April (21-22) at Ithaca, NY to represent DUSO. Collin McElroy and Robert Primrose are representing RCK in the state competition.
     

     


    Congratulations to Connor Hitt and Abby Kowalczyk who are competing in the NYS Indoor Track & Field Championships at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. Abby is competing in the 3000m and Connor in the 1600m event. All of Ketcham Nation is cheering for you!

     



    The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls is proud of our Roy C. Ketcham High School Interact Club for participating in Interact week in November 2022. They were officially recognized with a certificate of participation by Rotary’s Programs for Young Leaders Team for submitting a video of what Interact means to them.     Congratulations to Matt Masch for winning the 145lb section 1 championship title. He is the 15th Section 1 Wrestling champion in school history. He will compete at the New York State tournament.

     


    Congratulations to senior Eddy Corporan who took fifth place and earned all-section at 152 lbs at the Section 1 wrestling championships.

     


    Congratulations to the RCK Science Olympiad team for placing 9th out of 34 teams at the New York State Science Olympiad Mid-Hudson Regional tournament held at John Jay High School on Feb. 4 & 5.

    We earned medals in 12 events. 

    Our A Team placed 9th overall out of 34 teams competing.

    SENIOR JOE ARCURE HEADED TO SECTIONALS!!

    Congratulations to Joseph Arcure '23 on the successful bowling season for 2022-23. Joe bowled a 288, which is the highest in the league. He is headed to sectionals on Feb. 14. 

     


    Congratulations to the RCK students who earned Silver Key and Gold Key honors for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards 

    Students submit artwork for different categories (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography) to the regional (several counties)  competition. Their work is then adjudicated and if they meet or exceed the criteria, they win an award. Gold Key works have been automatically advanced to the national level of judging in New York City. National Medalists will be announced on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. There will be an exhibit and awards ceremony at SUNY New Paltz for all regional Gold and Silver Key winners on February 3rd.

    Congratulations to Eddy Corporan ‘23. PoJo Athlete of the Week Jan. 14-22. A multi-sport athlete and all-around incredible student!


    Congratulations to the wrestling team for winning the Beacon Wrestling Tournament Jan. 21-22.. Eddy Corporan and Matt Masch were both individual champions. The highlight was Eddy pinning the #1 ranked undefeated wrestler in Section 9 from Washingtonville High School in the championship match. Jonah Usher placed 3rd, Steven Suter placed 2nd, Angelo Battista placed 3rd, Mike Ricci placed 2nd, Asher Slaughter placed 3rd. Matt Masch was also voted the Most Outstanding Wrestling of the entire tournament. This is his 4th MOW award this year.

     


    Congratulations to Amanda Arvelo ('23) Youth Honoree for the Catharine Street Legacy and Family Support Program and Roosevelt Institute 2023 College Scholarship. The Annual Martin Luther King, Jr Breakfast sponsored by the Catharine Street Legacy Committee is held in January. The event honors community leaders in partnership with the Roosevelt Institute and provides scholarships to local youth who plan to pursue higher education. Winners must show academic achievement as well as community involvement.


    Members and advisors from Masque & Mime attended the High School Theatre Conference at the Villa Roma in Callicoon, NY hosted by the New York State Theater Education Association. The weekend is filled with educational theatre workshops, performances, and special events. Seniors Katelyn Hansom and Colin Nappi had their scripts chosen and performed for the Playwright Showcase. Thank you to advisors Mr. & Mrs. Evaul and Mr. Tornatore.

    Matt Masch placed 5th at the Eastern States Classic Tournament on Jan. 14. Many consider this tournament even harder than states and Matt faced strong opponents. He had a huge victory over the #1 ranked wrestler in New York State (D2). In the quarterfinals, his match was tied 6-6 with :13 left when Matt got a takedown to win. He was defeated in the semi-finals by the two-time Rhode Island state finalist and 2020 Rhode Island state champion.  Matt had the highest finish of any Section 1 Wrestler.

    Congratulations to Jonny Lichwick and Jessica Murphy for placing 3rd in Chemistry Lab at the Columbia Invitational on Saturday. Jonny also earned a 6th place medal in Experimental Design along with Jacob Duchi and Andrew Fabrizio. Great job Olympians!

                   

     


    Congratulations to Matt Masch for winning the Mid-Hudson Wrestling Tournament in December. Matt was the only Dutchess County champion to win the tournament. He had an 8-0 record over the two-day event that included 24 teams from Section 1, Section 9, Catholic/Private schools, NYC, CT and Long Island.

    Congratulations to Olivia Brennan '23 for earning her Girl Scouts Gold Award! Olivia built and installed a Little Library at Sheafe Road Elementary School and Vassar Road Elementary School. Only about 5 percent of Girl Scouts earn the Gold Award and her achievement is a great one!


    So very proud of Tyler Adams ('17) for his amazing job as captain of the US Men's National Team at the 2022 World Cup.

    Abby Kowalczyk became only the second female from RCK to qualify for the Section 1 NYS Cross Country Championships! She came in 3rd in a field of 101 runners at Sectionals on Nov. 5.
    Connor Hitt came in 2nd in a field of 147 runners and also advances to the state meet in Verona. He is the first male RCK Cross Country runner since 1994 to qualify for the state meet.
           

    Congratulations to Junior Aubrey Lawler for being recognized as the November 2022 Student of the Month by The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls.     Congratulations to RCK girls varsity swim team for taking 4th in their conference championships on October 29. Shout out to Abigail Mathews for a personal best swim in the 500 free and to Olivia Nguyen for a personal best swim in the  100 free.   The 200 Medley Relay of Kaelynn Odums, Olivia Nguyen, Abigail Mathew and Nella Morgan took 2nd place and the same girls swam the 200 free relay and took first place. 


    Congratulations to our seniors on Wappingers Volleyball. This was the first year for a boys volleyball team in our school district and their hard work and determination was proven on the court!

    Congratulations to Ryan Zindler who was named Athlete of the Week by the Poughkeepsie Journal for the week of Oct. 3 to Oct. 9  The junior did all the scoring against Spring Valley on October 7. He scored a career-high SIX goals to lead Ketcham in a 6-1 win.

    Congratulations to the RCK students selected to perform in the 2022 NYSSMA Area All-State Zone 10 Festival on November 18 and 19, at Red Hook High School. The selection of so many of our students to perform in the Area All-State Ensembles is a great honor for the performers and a point of pride for our community. Students were selected through a stringent audition process completed in last spring’s NYSSMA solo ensemble competition. We congratulate these students and their music teachers on this fine accomplishment.

    The Rotary Club of Wappingers Falls recognizes World Interact Week. World Interact Week is celebrated every year during the week of 5 November to commemorate the founding of the first Interact club in 1962. On behalf of all the Wappingers Falls Rotarians, President Elect Todd Bowen gave a certificate of appreciation to Roy C. Ketcham High School Interact Club Advisor Mr. Remick, Interact President Hilary, Interact President Moriah and Vice-President Amir (not pictured) for their dedication and service to Interact and their community.     The senior won the 200-yard individual medley (2:46.13) and the 500 freestyle (6:38.35) and was part of the winning 200 medley relay as Ketcham defeated Port Chester on September 30,

    Congratulations to Abby Kowalczyk (c) and Connor Hitt (r) for placing first and second in their respective races at the Wave-Mania Cross Country Invitational in Warwick on Sept 10. Also medalling was Eddy Corporan (l). In addition to their success, every athlete showed substantial improvement over last year's times.Great job by all!
