    Reading

    Reading homework will be assigned every night. Your child will bring home a bag of books with a yellow reading log. Reading logs must be filled in and signed by a Parent or Guardian. Book baggies & reading logs should be returned to school the following day.


    *Please note: Your child is not required to read the books they bring home. They may also read any books they may have at home, their library book(s), or online books. Just make sure they are recording the titles of those books on their reading log with minutes read.

    Math

    A math packet will be sent home every Monday. Your child may complete the work at his/her own pace throughout the week. Math homework will be handed in on Friday.

    Spelling

    I will be sending home a weekly spelling list with words from the current unit of our word study program (Orton-Gillingham). We will have spelling tests every  Friday.
     
     
    Questions to Help Readers 
     
    To help students use meaning say:
    -"Did that make sense?"
    -"Look at the picture and think what would make sense."
    -"Read it again and think what would make sense."
    -"You said_______. What would make sense?"
     
    To help students use structure say:
    -"Did that sound right?"
    -"Can we way it like that?"
    -"Read it again and think what would sound right."
    -"You said______. Does that sound right?"
     
    To help students use visual information say:
    -"Did that sound right?"
    -"What could you try?"
    -"Do you know a word that starts with those letters?"
    -"Do you know a word like that?"
