*When at home with your child, these are some great language games to play:

-Scrabble

-Headbands

-Guess Who?

-Go Fish with flashcards (describe pictures)

-Uno (critical thinking, strategy)

-READING BOOKS!!!! Reading is the best way to engage your child and expand on their speech and language skills!  Talk about characters, setting, ask wh- questions (who, what, where, when, why, how), discuss vocabulary words that pop up when reading and label pictures found in the story.  If reading a chapter book, discuss the vocabulary within the context of the story and define unknown words for your child.  Take it a step further and look up the definition to unknown words.  Books are a great resource and activity to share in with your child during this time!
